Aiden La’Melvin Barnes was a 9-year-old Black boy from Monticello, Georgia, and on December 11, 2021, what should have been an ordinary Saturday in Jasper County turned into a sudden family tragedy. Investigators said deputies and paramedics were called to a home in a rural part of the county at about 5 p.m. after a 911 caller inside the residence reported that a child had been shot.
