In the quiet community of Rex, Georgia, the life of 55-year-old Kasha Newton, a woman known for her big smile and kind, loving nature, was tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence. On a Tuesday evening in late January 2022, Newton was in the driveway of a home on Wagner Place when a car drove by and unleashed a hail of gunfire. She was struck multiple times in the sudden and brutal attack.

Her son was present and tried to save her in the immediate aftermath. Newton was rushed to a hospital where she underwent six surgeries and fought for her life. Despite her resilience and showing signs of responsiveness, her injuries proved too severe. After two days of fighting, Kasha Newton died on the evening of Thursday, January 27, 2022.

The Clayton County Police Department launched an investigation into the drive-by shooting, stating that they did not believe the attack was random. However, a specific motive for the shooting was not immediately clear. Friends and family were left stunned, describing Newton as a sweet person who led a quiet life and had no known enemies. She was a mother of three and a grandmother to two, and her loss was deeply felt by her loved ones and the community.

In the months that followed, investigators continued to seek leads and asked the public for any information, including any available surveillance footage from nearby homes. As of June 2022, no suspects had been publicly identified, and no arrests had been made in connection with the murder of Kasha Newton. Her family, heartbroken by the violent loss, has pleaded for anyone with information to come forward to bring justice for a woman remembered as a joyful and peaceful presence in their lives.
