In the winter of 2022, a dispute over the noise of construction work at a southwest Atlanta apartment complex turned deadly, claiming the life of 43-year-old Anastazio Jeronimo. A dedicated construction worker, Jeronimo was going about his daily tasks on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 2nd, at the Premier at 1935 Apartments on Alison Court. The day took a tragic turn when a resident of the complex, 26-year-old Trevion Dashawn Webb, allegedly became enraged by the sounds of the ongoing
renovations.
The argument escalated with terrifying speed, culminating in Webb reportedly producing a firearm and opening fire on the construction crew. In the ensuing chaos, Anastazio Jeronimo was struck in the chest, and a second worker was wounded in the hand. Both men were rushed to a nearby hospital, but Jeronimo succumbed to his injuries. The senseless act of violence left a family grieving and a community in shock.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Webb fled the scene, prompting a swift investigation by the Atlanta Police Department. The very next day, on February 3rd, detectives identified Webb as the primary suspect and took him into custody. He was subsequently charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Webb was booked into the Fulton County Jail.
Further investigation into Webb's background revealed a troubled history. Just days before the fatal shooting, on January 31st, he was allegedly involved in a violent domestic dispute at a home in Jonesboro. During that incident, he was accused of attacking two relatives and chasing his 16-year-old brother down the street with a gun. Warrants had been issued for his arrest in Clayton County on charges of aggravated assault, cruelty to children, simple battery, and theft by taking. His mother revealed that she believed her son suffered from untreated mental illness, a condition she said also afflicted his father. She expressed her deepest condolences to Jeronimo's family, stating her belief that her son was not in his right state of mind at the time of the shooting.
