In the quiet, rural setting of Buena Vista, Georgia, a concerned citizen's 911 call in the early morning hours of July 18, 2022, shattered the peace and led to the discovery of a grim scene. Schley County sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a shooting at a residence on Ira Kelly Road. Upon arrival, they encountered Jamie Leon Harris, a 37-year-old man who also resided at the home, and took him into custody at the scene.
Inside the residence, a tragedy had unfolded, leaving three
people dead. One of the victims was 69-year-old Charles Robert Brown, a male resident of the home. He was found deceased alongside his sister, 65-year-old Paula Kelly, and her 23-year-old pregnant granddaughter, Lara Bullard. The investigation later revealed that Harris was in a relationship with Paula Kelly. All three victims, along with Harris, lived together in the home where their lives were violently ended.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist the Schley County Sheriff's Office with the death investigation. Following his arrest at the scene, Jamie Leon Harris was charged with three counts of felony murder and three counts of aggravated assault. Due to the death of Lara Bullard's unborn child, Harris also faced a charge of feticide. He was subsequently jailed in the neighboring Sumter County to await legal proceedings.
