In the early hours of a spring morning in Baltimore, tragedy struck the McElderry Park neighborhood. On Friday, April 19, 2013, Michael Shears, a 34-year-old Black male, was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 12:51 a.m. in the 2700 block of Jefferson Street, a residential area in the southeastern part of the city.
