In the early morning hours of Sunday, June 9, 2013, a violent encounter at a gas station in the 3300 block of Mannasota Avenue in Baltimore City claimed the life of Donte Fletcher. At approximately 2:30 a.m., officers responded to the scene and discovered that a man had been stabbed at least once. Fletcher was rushed to Johns Hopkins Hospital for medical treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries about 45 minutes after his arrival. The investigation into his death was hampered by a lack of surveillance footage, as the 24-hour gas station where the incident occurred did not have functioning cameras. Despite the passage of time, Fletcher's case remains unsolved, with no arrests made and no suspects publicly identified. His murder is now considered a cold case.
More than a decade later, another man from Baltimore, Donovan Fletcher, a 28-year-old Black male, became a victim of homicide. On the evening of May 31, 2024, a triple shooting occurred in the 5300 block of Cordelia Avenue. Fletcher was one of the individuals wounded in the gunfire. He was transported to a medical facility for treatment of his injuries. Despite medical efforts, Donovan Fletcher passed away on July 2, 2024, leading authorities to upgrade the investigation to a homicide. At this time, information regarding any potential suspects or arrests in connection with the shooting that led to his death has not been released to the public.
