In the crisp autumn air of October 7, 2024, the life of 26-year-old Damien Parker was tragically cut short on the streets of East Baltimore. A Black male known affectionately to friends and family as 'Dollar Bill,' 'Fat Woe,' or 'Woe,' Parker was a cherished member of his community, remembered for his vibrant personality and unwavering kindness. Born on June 30, 1998, he was the youngest in his family and had a passion for sports and helping others.
On that fateful Monday evening, at
approximately 10:56 PM, the sound of gunfire echoed through the 2300 block of Harford Road. Baltimore Police, alerted by the ShotSpotter gunshot detection system, arrived at the scene to find Parker with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention, his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead shortly after. The Baltimore Police Department's Homicide Unit promptly took charge of the investigation into the violent end of a young life.
The investigation into Parker's death led to a significant development in the case. Authorities identified and arrested 29-year-old Matthew Kintay Harper Jr. in connection with the murder. Harper has since been charged with the killing of Damien Parker. As the legal process unfolds, the family and friends of Parker are left to mourn the sudden and senseless loss of a loving son and devoted friend, his infectious smile and compassionate heart silenced forever. The motive for the shooting has not been publicly released by authorities as the case against the suspect proceeds.
