An ordinary evening at home in Redan, Georgia, turned into a scene of unimaginable horror for the Wheelous family on November 7, 2022. Darrell Wheelous, a 34-year-old man, was inside his residence with his sister, Shanterriah Wheelous, when a sudden barrage of gunfire erupted from outside. The siblings were reportedly watching television when the house was riddled with bullets in what authorities believe was a drive-by shooting.
The sheer volume of the assault was staggering, with investigators later recovering at least 32 shell casings at the scene. The bullets tore through the walls and windows of the home, striking both Darrell and his sister. Their mother, who was also in the house at the time, was not injured but was left to witness the horrific aftermath. She emerged from her bedroom to find both of her children suffering from critical gunshot wounds. Emergency services were called to the chaotic scene.
Tragically, Shanterriah Wheelous was pronounced dead at their home. Darrell Wheelous was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The motive for this violent and sudden attack remains unclear. As of the initial investigation, police had not identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the double homicide that claimed the lives of both Darrell and his sister.
