In the quiet neighborhood of Ellenwood, Georgia, a domestic dispute shattered the morning peace on December 30, 2022, leading to the tragic death of 45-year-old Alicia Alston. Responding to a call about a person shot, Clayton County police officers arrived at a residence on Northwind Drive to find Alicia Alston outside with multiple gunshot wounds.
Bystanders and officers attempted to apply pressure to her wounds before she was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a domestic incident involving Alicia and her 57-year-old husband, Johnnie Alston. The violence unfolded while five children were inside the home. In the immediate aftermath, authorities issued warrants for Johnnie Alston's arrest. He was located and taken into custody several days later.
Following his arrest, Johnnie Alston faced a series of serious charges, including malice murder, reckless conduct, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and five counts of cruelty to children, reflecting the number of children present during the fatal altercation.
