Charles E. Scott, a 39-year-old white male, tragically lost his life on November 17, 1917, in Panama City, Florida. Deputy Sheriff Scott was on duty when he was fatally shot with his own weapon. The incident occurred at a train depot platform near the present-day Highway 231 overpass in Betts, Florida. A man approached Scott, walking past him several times before initiating a verbal altercation. During the confrontation, the suspect seized Scott's revolver, struck him in the face, and then shot ...
