Cubrit Dixon, a Black man, was killed on December 6, 1922, in Perry, Florida, during a period of intense racial violence known as the Perry massacre. This event was part of a broader pattern of racially motivated attacks in the Jim Crow era. Dixon was traveling from Madison County into Taylor County when he was stopped by armed citizens who had been deputized.
