On that fateful day, Deputy Coburn confronted two suspects who were wanted in connection with the heinous crimes of rape, kidnapping, and murder of a young woman who was six months pregnant. During the confrontation, the suspects overpowered Deputy Coburn, seized his service weapon, and shot him twice, resulting in his untimely death.
