On May 16, 1979, Officer William Coleman Cook, a 25-year-old member of the Metro-Dade Police Department, was tragically killed in the line of duty in Gladeview, Florida. Officer Cook, who had served with the department for six years, was responding to a shots fired call at the intersection of NW 77th Terrace and NW 12th Avenue.
