Carrol Ann Barrett, an 18-year-old from Zanesville, Ohio, was visiting Daytona Beach, Florida, for spring break in March 1980. On the night of March 23, 1980, she was abducted from the Treasure Island Motel in Daytona Beach Shores, where she was staying with a group of high school friends. Witnesses reported that Barrett was taken around 2 a.m. by an unknown assailant.
