Corporal Ronald Lee Fewell, a 24-year-old officer with the Lee County Sheriff's Office in Florida, tragically lost his life on March 16, 1983. On that fateful day, Corporal Fewell was responding to a domestic disturbance call where shots had been fired. As the first officer to arrive at the scene, he exited his vehicle and was immediately confronted by the suspect, who fired a 16-gauge shotgun, fatally striking Corporal Fewell.
