Patrol Officer Johnnie Norris Patterson, Jr., aged 25, tragically lost his life on March 8, 1997, in Winter Haven, Florida. Officer Patterson was conducting a routine traffic stop at approximately 4:30 AM at the intersection of 21st Street SW and Avenue D. During the stop, the driver fled on foot, prompting Officer Patterson to pursue him. Despite calling for backup, Officer Patterson was not heard from again.
