In the East Baltimore Midway neighborhood, on the afternoon of October 31, 2013, the lives of two young men were tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire. Michael Anthony Carter, a 24-year-old male, was in the 2000 block of Kennedy Avenue, near Cecil Elementary School and Green Mount Cemetery, when the shooting occurred at approximately 1:10 p.m. The attack also claimed the life of 21-year-old Brian Michael Birden.
