John Gurino, a New York mobster with connections to the Gambino crime family, was shot dead on October 28, 2003, by Ralph Liotta, a deli owner in West Boca Raton, Florida. Gurino, who was believed to be the triggerman in the 2001 murder of South Florida business tycoon Gus Boulis, did not live long enough to be charged with Boulis' slaying. Gurino, a white male, was involved in organized crime and had a reputation for using strong-arm tactics to intimidate others.
