Bryan Sidney Pata, a promising defensive lineman for the University of Miami Hurricanes, was tragically shot and killed on November 7, 2006, at the age of 22. Pata was returning home from a football practice when he was ambushed and shot in the parking lot of his apartment complex in Kendall, Florida. The Miami-Dade police quickly ruled the incident a homicide, but the case remained unsolved for nearly 15 years, leaving his family and the community in a state of grief and uncertainty.
