On July 18, 2008, Officer Andrew Allen Widman, aged 30, tragically lost his life in Fort Myers, Florida. Officer Widman was responding to a domestic dispute outside a restaurant on Hendry Street at approximately 2:00 a.m. The situation escalated when the male suspect involved in the dispute produced a 9mm handgun and opened fire. Officer Widman was fatally shot during this altercation. The suspect then fled the scene on foot, continuing to fire at pursuing officers. The chase ended when the susp ...
