On July 18, 2008, Officer Andrew Allen Widman, aged 30, tragically lost his life in Fort Myers, Florida. Officer Widman was responding to a domestic dispute outside a restaurant on Hendry Street at approximately 2:00 a.m. The situation escalated when the male suspect involved in the dispute produced a 9mm handgun and opened fire.
