Justin Harper, a 22-year-old male from Inverness, Florida, tragically lost his life on June 9, 2014. Harper, who was born on November 8, 1991, in Crystal River, Florida, was a lifelong resident of Citrus County. On the evening of his death, Citrus County Sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at a home on N. Reed Terrace. Upon arrival, they discovered Harper had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation revealed that Harper was dating Jenifer Molfetta, the ex-girlfriend of 52-year-old Michael Laramee. Laramee, who had a child with Molfetta, was identified as the suspect in the shooting. After the incident, Laramee fled the scene in his vehicle, leading deputies on a chase. The pursuit ended when Laramee's car was disabled by spike strips deployed by law enforcement. As deputies approached the vehicle, they found Laramee dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

This tragic event was classified as a murder-suicide. The quick actions of the deputies prevented further harm, but the loss of life was deeply felt by the community. The Citrus County Sheriff's Office conducted a thorough investigation, and autopsies were performed by the medical examiner's office to confirm the cause of death. No further details were available at the time regarding any additional suspects or litigations related to the case.
