Peter French, a 48-year-old Black male, was tragically killed on August 19, 2014, in Miami, Florida. The incident occurred at approximately 9:53 p.m. at his residence located at 6340 NW 23 Avenue. Upon arrival, officers from the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) discovered Peter French suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma Center by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Following an
extensive investigation by the MDPD Homicide Bureau, Jamie Knowles, a 31-year-old Black male, was arrested on September 17, 2014, in connection with the murder of Peter French. Knowles was subsequently charged with Second-Degree Murder. On August 31, 2016, after being found guilty by a jury, Jamie Knowles was sentenced to a forty-year prison term for the murder of Peter French.
The case highlights the diligent efforts of the Miami-Dade Police Department in solving the crime and bringing the perpetrator to justice.
