John Joseph "J.J." Rush, a former St. Petersburg Police Department patrol officer, tragically died on March 8, 2015, in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. Rush, who had retired from the police force due to an on-duty car accident in 2005, was working as an investigator for the Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner’s Office at the time of his death. His life came to a sudden and violent end when he was shot by his ex-wife, Cara Ryan, at her apartment.
