The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Publix supermarket located in the East Towne Center at 13900 E. Highway 50, near County Road 455. Emergency personnel pronounced Jones dead at the scene. Witnesses reported seeing Jones' chest covered in blood as emergency officials attempted CPR for approximately 16 minutes.
Despite their efforts, Jones succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The Clermont Police Department continues to investigate the case, with new evidence emerging periodically. A reward of $5,000 has been offered for information leading to the arrest of Jones' killer.
