Bria Renon Kelsey, a 23-year-old mother from Jacksonville, Florida, was tragically found shot to death inside a car on October 29, 2016. The incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. in a parking lot on Normandy Boulevard at Lake Shore Drive on Jacksonville’s Westside. Her 3-year-old son was found unharmed in the car with her. Bria was a devoted mother and a beloved family member, known for her loving and caring nature.
She had recently been promoted to manager at a local McDonald's and had attended Ed White High School and Florida State College at Jacksonville.
The investigation revealed that Bria was shot in the head at close range. Initially, her former boyfriend, Kameron Letroy Holmes, claimed that a drive-by shooting was responsible for her death. However, evidence at the scene led detectives to question his story. Holmes was later arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He admitted to arguing with Bria in the car before turning around and shooting her with a 9mm pistol. The argument had escalated after they had gone out to watch a football game together, in an attempt to mend their rocky relationship.
Holmes was found guilty of second-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison in March 2018. The case was prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney for the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida. The tragic loss of Bria Kelsey left her family and friends devastated, and her young son without his mother. The family expressed their grief and anger, hoping that Holmes would receive the punishment he deserved for taking Bria's life.
