Allen Record, a 30-year-old man from West Palm Beach, FL, tragically lost his life on January 10, 2017. The circumstances surrounding his death were both shocking and heartbreaking. Allen, along with a friend, had responded to a Craigslist advertisement for a motorcycle. They went to the 300 block of Chillingsworth Drive in West Palm Beach to meet the seller. However, the situation took a deadly turn when they were approached by two masked men carrying weapons.
During the robbery, Allen Record was shot and killed. His cellphone was stolen, and the assailants fled the scene.
The investigation into Allen Record's death led to the arrest of Jeffrey Joseph, a 25-year-old man from suburban West Palm Beach. Fingerprints found on the discarded cellphone linked Joseph to the crime. He was charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery. During the trial, it was revealed that Joseph had attempted to tamper with the jury by contacting an outside party and reading out the names of jurors. This led to the revocation of his cellphone, mail, and visitation privileges for the remainder of the trial.
On February 9, 2023, after a four-day trial, Jeffrey Joseph was convicted of first-degree murder and armed robbery. Circuit Judge Howard Coates sentenced him to consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole for the murder of Allen Record. Additionally, Joseph received a minimum of 10 years for the robbery conviction. The trial brought some closure to the six-year-old case, highlighting the tragic loss of Allen Record and the subsequent legal proceedings that ensured justice was served.
