On February 6, 2017, Tarence Jackson, a 34-year-old African American man, was found shot to death in Webster, Florida. The Sumter County Sheriff's Office reported that deputies responded to a call at 12:53 a.m. at 10525 County Road 727, where they discovered Jackson's body with multiple gunshot wounds.
