On April 30, 2017, Lucas David Gore, a 31-year-old white male, was tragically shot to death in Flagler Beach, Florida. The incident occurred at 1002 South Daytona Avenue, across from the Flagler Beach Community Church. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a shooting at approximately 12:26 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies and officers from the Flagler Beach Police Department found Lucas David Gore unresponsive and slumped over a table. He was pronounced dead at the scene by fire rescue staff.
The investigation revealed that Lucas Gore had been shot twice in the head by his father, Bobby Gore, a 74-year-old white male. According to an arrest affidavit, the shooting occurred during an argument between Lucas and his mother, Bonnie Jean Gore, who is 57 years old. Bonnie Jean Gore stated that she had been sitting on the back porch with Lucas when the argument escalated, and Bobby Gore emerged with a firearm, shooting Lucas twice in the head. Lucas's brother, Matthew Gore, 33, reported that he was awakened by the argument and heard two loud "claps" before finding his brother slumped over the family's glass table.
Bobby Gore was immediately arrested and charged with first-degree murder with a firearm. He was booked into the county jail and held without bond. The Flagler Beach Police Department, along with the State Attorney’s Office Homicide Investigations Unit and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Crime Scene Unit, conducted a thorough investigation into the case. An autopsy was performed by the Medical Examiner’s Office to confirm the cause of death.
The case was described as an absolute tragedy by Flagler Beach Police Chief Matt Doughney, who expressed condolences to the Gore family and emphasized the department's commitment to assisting them during this difficult time. The investigation into the circumstances leading to the shooting continued, with authorities working to determine the underlying causes of the fatal incident.
