Yanela Lorente, a 28-year-old woman from Haines City, Florida, was found dead on June 2, 2017, in the Hilochee Wildlife Management Area in northeast Polk County. Her body was discovered in a thick, wooded swamp area, approximately a 10-minute walk from the main trail inside the park. The Polk County Sheriff's Office confirmed her identity and ruled her death as a suicide caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
