Robert Nicholas Mayall, a 30-year-old male from Destin, Florida, was tragically killed on June 30, 2017. The incident occurred at Harbor View Park in Destin, where Mayall was shot multiple times. His body was discovered the following day, July 1, 2017. The victim, who was described as a transient, had gone to the park with William Joffre Reed, a 36-year-old male, around 10 p.m. on the night of the incident. Reed later confessed to shooting Mayall "in cold blood" and attempting to change his appearance after the crime. The murder weapon was found buried behind a local business.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office quickly identified Reed as a suspect and arrested him less than 48 hours after the murder. Reed was charged with second-degree murder and eventually pleaded no contest to the charge. The case was investigated thoroughly by the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, and Reed's confession played a significant role in the resolution of the case. The sentence was imposed by Circuit Judge William Stone, who sentenced Reed to life in prison for the murder of Robert Mayall.

The investigation revealed that both men had gone to the park together, and during their time there, Reed shot Mayall several times. Reed's attempt to alter his appearance and the subsequent discovery of the murder weapon were critical pieces of evidence that led to his arrest and conviction. The case highlights the swift action taken by law enforcement and the judicial system to bring justice for the victim, Robert Nicholas Mayall.
