The suspect, Jason Raymond MacDonald, was apprehended near the Mexico border in Texas after a nationwide manhunt. MacDonald, who had an extensive criminal history, was charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and grand theft auto. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, but it was revealed that MacDonald was temporarily living in the home as an act of kindness from the victims.
