On August 11, 2018, seven-year-old Heidy Janeth Rivas Villanueva tragically lost her life in Jacksonville, Florida. Heidy was in a parked car with her father and younger sibling outside the El Tapatio market on 103rd Street while her mother shopped inside. During this time, a gang-related shooting erupted in the parking lot, and a stray bullet struck Heidy in the head. Her father, in a desperate attempt to save her, rushed her to a nearby hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries in his arms. ...
