Carli Cronin, a 30-year-old woman from Ocala, Florida, tragically lost her life on November 24, 2018, in a violent incident at a Walmart store on Silver Springs Boulevard. The events unfolded in the garden center area of the store, where Cronin was confronted by her ex-boyfriend, David Perry Johnson, aged 54. Witnesses reported a heated verbal altercation between the two, which quickly escalated when Johnson grabbed Cronin by her ponytail and placed her in a headlock.
Johnson then fired nine shots at Cronin, most of which struck her torso. Despite the efforts of Walmart personnel and paramedics from Ocala Fire Rescue and Marion County Fire Rescue, Cronin was pronounced dead at Ocala Regional Medical Center.
The investigation revealed that Cronin and Johnson had been in an intimate relationship that ended approximately five months prior to the incident.
