Calvin Desir, a 16-year-old African American male, tragically passed away on March 23, 2019, in Coral Springs, Florida. Calvin was a sophomore at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and a survivor of the 2018 mass shooting at the same school. His death was ruled a suicide, occurring just days after another Parkland shooting survivor, Sydney Aiello, also took her own life. Both Calvin and Sydney reportedly died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds to the head.
