In the evening hours of a Saturday in East Baltimore, 32-year-old Kelavin Weaver was fatally shot in what police believe was a targeted attack. The incident occurred at approximately 7:20 p.m. on October 17, 2015, in the 1200 block of North Decker Street. Weaver, a male, resided several blocks away from where the shooting took place.
According to Baltimore City Police, an unknown individual approached Weaver and spoke to him briefly before shooting him in the head. The suspect immediately fled the scene after the shooting. Medical personnel pronounced Weaver dead at the location of the incident.
Detectives investigating the case stated their belief that the homicide was an isolated event and that Weaver was the intended victim. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, law enforcement was actively searching for a suspect and working to determine a motive for the killing. Authorities encouraged anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact the Baltimore City Police homicide unit or Metro Crime Stoppers. There have been no public announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in the years following the incident.
