Christopher Black, a 34-year-old resident of Navarre, Florida, tragically lost his life on July 13, 2019, in Mary Esther, Florida. Early that morning, the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office responded to a call at a home on Blackstone Road, where they found Black bleeding under a carport. Despite being rushed to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. An autopsy later confirmed that Black died from a fatal gunshot wound. Another man was also shot during the incident but survived.
The investigation into Black's death revealed that he was involved in a confrontation with Eugene Bradley, a 31-year-old man from Mary Esther. According to reports, Bradley confronted Black after seeing him talk to his girlfriend. The situation escalated into a physical altercation, during which Bradley shot Black three times. Witnesses reported that both men had been smoking methamphetamine before the incident. Bradley was also wounded in the left arm by one of the shots.
Following the shooting, Bradley fled the scene but was later apprehended by the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office. He was arrested on November 5, 2019, outside an Arby's restaurant on Highway 98 in west Okaloosa County. Bradley was charged with first-degree premeditated murder and is being held without bond. The case against Bradley is ongoing, with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Black's death.
