DeShaun Frazier, a 35-year-old African American male, was tragically found dead on November 20, 2020, inside a mobile home located at 107 Marimba Street near Mary Esther, Florida. The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and discovered Frazier in a pool of blood. The state medical examiner later determined that Frazier had died from a gunshot wound to the head. Investigators were informed that Frazier often had large amounts of cash and that a significant quantity of narcotics was missing from the scene.
The investigation led to the arrest of 39-year-old Tavares Gainer, a resident of Fort Walton Beach, who was charged with second-degree murder in connection with Frazier's death. Gainer was developed as a suspect after information was obtained indicating he was in the area of the shooting during the timeframe. A source provided a sworn statement that Gainer had confessed and bragged about murdering Frazier, claiming he had shot him in the head. Surveillance footage showed a silver sedan fleeing the area immediately after the shooting, and Gainer later admitted to driving a silver Mazda sedan on the day of the homicide. Cellphone records also placed him in the vicinity at the time of the crime.
Gainer was taken into custody and is being held without bond at the Okaloosa County Jail. The investigation remains active and ongoing, with the potential for additional arrests.
