Ammie Andrea Farmer, a 35-year-old African American woman from Macclenny, Florida, tragically lost her life on March 31, 2020. Ammie was discovered with gunshot wounds to her thigh and chest in the area of MLK Boulevard and Railroad Avenue in Macclenny. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries. Ammie was a mother of five, known for her loving and family-oriented nature.
She was employed at Northeast Florida State Hospital and had previously worked at McDonald's.
The investigation into Ammie's death revealed that she had been involved in a feud with 29-year-old Lakeisha Young, also an African American woman. On the night of the incident, witnesses reported that Ammie and Lakeisha had planned to fight at the intersection where the shooting occurred. During the altercation, Lakeisha retrieved a handgun from her vehicle and fired several shots, hitting Ammie multiple times. Witnesses described how Ammie attempted to flee, but Lakeisha continued to shoot until Ammie collapsed.
Following the shooting, Lakeisha Young fled the scene in her vehicle. Law enforcement agencies, including the Baker County Sheriff's Office and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, were alerted and began a search for her. Lakeisha was eventually apprehended on Jacksonville's Northside and taken into custody. She was charged with murder and transported to the Duval County Pretrial Detention Center before being extradited to Baker County.
