Eloy Lebron, a 41-year-old resident of Orlando, Florida, was tragically killed on July 23, 2020. The incident occurred on West Anderson Street, where Lebron was found dead behind the wheel of his 1998 Toyota Tacoma. According to reports, Lebron was driving with a passenger when shots were fired from another vehicle as they crossed Jernigan Avenue around 12:30 p.m. The passenger in Lebron's truck managed to duck down to avoid being struck by the bullets.
Witnesses reported that shots were fired from a white 2004 Saturn Ion, which was seen making a U-turn and speeding off after the shooting.
The Orlando Police Department launched an investigation and utilized surveillance footage from a camera located at West Anderson Street and North Westmoreland Drive. The footage showed the Saturn Ion traveling north and then making a U-turn before the shooting. The vehicle was later identified as belonging to Marqia Angelia Hamilton's mother. On July 24, police pulled over the Saturn and detained Hamilton along with another woman who was not listed as a suspect. Hamilton initially claimed that she and the other woman were in the area to buy marijuana and left when they heard gunshots. However, police found her account to be deceptive.
Further investigation revealed that both Hamilton and the driver of the Saturn had fired shots at Lebron. Hamilton was subsequently arrested and charged with manslaughter with a firearm. She was booked into the Orange County jail and held without bond. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and police have not yet arrested the driver of the Saturn. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and authorities continue to gather evidence and witness testimonies to piece together the events leading up to Lebron's death.
