Daquarvious Fudge, a 14-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on August 5, 2020, in Orlando, Florida. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. near the intersection of Cypress Street and Willie Mays Parkway. Daquarvious was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting, with the assailant firing from a car window. When authorities arrived at the scene, they found Daquarvious with a gunshot wound at Columbia Street and Ivey Lane.
Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The investigation into Daquarvious Fudge's death revealed that the shooting was part of an ongoing gang feud in the area. The Orange County Sheriff's Office, along with the Orlando Police Department and the FBI, identified the involvement of local gangs, specifically the 438 gang and the Army gang, in the recent uptick in violence. The authorities offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
On October 16, 2020, Lorenzo Hall, an 18-year-old male, turned himself in to the authorities. Hall was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting of Daquarvious Fudge. He was identified as the person hanging out of the rear window of a silver or gold Nissan Altima, aiming a gun at the victim. Hall's arrest was part of a broader effort by law enforcement to address gang-related violence in the community.
In addition to Lorenzo Hall, two other individuals were also charged in connection with the murder of Daquarvious Fudge. Malachi Lamarr Thomas, a 19-year-old male, was arrested on December 2, 2020, on an outstanding warrant. A grand jury had previously indicted him on murder charges. The arrests were part of a coordinated effort by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force initiative, which worked with local authorities to target the gangs responsible for the violence.
The case of Daquarvious Fudge highlights the devastating impact of gang violence on the community and the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to bring those responsible to justice. The investigation and subsequent arrests underscore the commitment of the Orange County Sheriff's Office, the Orlando Police Department, and the FBI to combat gang-related crime and ensure the safety of the residents.
