A loaded Diamondback assault rifle was stored under the bed without a case. The parents heard a loud bang followed by the screams of their 10-year-old daughter. Jeramyah was found fatally shot in the head, and emergency medical services confirmed his death at the scene.
The incident led to significant legal repercussions for Jeramyah's father, Christopher Wyatt. He was charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child under the age of 16. The prosecution highlighted a previous incident where Jeramyah had armed himself with his father's shotgun to investigate a noise while home alone with his siblings.
