Larry DeWayne Dugger, a 41-year-old man, tragically lost his life on February 15, 2021, in Silver Springs, Florida. Dugger, who was attending a Rainbow Gathering in the Ocala National Forest, was shot late on the night of February 12, 2021. Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 10:40 p.m. and found Dugger with gunshot wounds.
Despite the efforts of bystanders who were tending to him, Dugger was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Rainbow Gathering, known for attracting a diverse group of individuals including hippies, yogis, and nudists, turned into a scene of tragedy with Dugger's death. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office immediately launched an investigation into the homicide, seeking the public’s assistance in solving the case. Detective Billy Burleson was assigned to the case, and the authorities urged anyone with information to come forward, either directly or through the Marion County Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
