On the evening of March 10, 2016, a burst of gunfire in the 3000 block of Reese Street in East Baltimore cut short the life of Darius Lamont Bruce, a 20-year-old Black/African American male. Another man, Orlando Smith, who was 23 at the time, was also struck by the hail of bullets and left in critical condition. While first responders rushed to the scene, the injuries sustained by Bruce proved to be fatal, and he died a short time later.
