Eric Thornhill Chavis, a 27-year-old resident of St. Petersburg, Florida, tragically lost his life on July 5, 2021. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 3:37 a.m., in the parking lot of Leanne's Rental Hall located at 1566 16th Street South. A large crowd of approximately 100 to 150 people had gathered at the location when the shooting took place. Upon arrival, St. Petersburg Police found Chavis critically injured from gunshot wounds.
