Joshua Moyers, a 29-year-old white male deputy from Nassau County, Florida, was tragically killed on September 24, 2021, during a routine traffic stop near Callahan. Moyers was conducting the stop at approximately 2:30 a.m. when he was shot in the face and back by the driver of the vehicle, identified as 35-year-old Patrick McDowell, a white male ex-Marine from Jacksonville.
