Margaret Darlene Hindsley, an 89-year-old woman from Ponce Inlet, FL, was tragically shot and killed on January 5, 2022. Hindsley, who was described by her family as the "happiest and kindest person," lived independently with her family nearby and was receiving limited supplemental care following surgery. On the morning of her death, she was found shot multiple times in her condo at The Links Condominiums around 5 a.m. and later died at a hospital.
The suspects in this case were identified as Micayla Faith Yusco, 22, and her husband, Tyden Paul Guinn, 24. Yusco was Hindsley's caregiver, visiting her twice a day for about four months. The couple was arrested shortly after the incident when Guinn's father called 911 to report a possible murder after the couple informed him of their actions. Both Yusco and Guinn were charged with first-degree premeditated murder and armed burglary. They are currently being held in the Volusia County jail without bond.
The investigation revealed that Yusco and Guinn had a history of visiting Hindsley regularly, making them familiar with her home and routine. The motive behind the shooting has not been disclosed, but it was noted that Yusco had made a full confession. The case marked the first homicide in Ponce Inlet since the mid-1990s, and the local police department, along with the Volusia County Sheriff's Department and the 7th Circuit State Attorney's Office, have been actively involved in the ongoing investigation.
Hindsley's family expressed their shock and grief over her senseless loss, highlighting her independent spirit and loving nature. They have requested privacy during this difficult time and have thanked the authorities for their efforts in seeking justice for Margaret Darlene Hindsley.
