William R. Johnson, a 34-year-old Deputy Sheriff, tragically lost his life on July 31, 1852, in Oakland, California. He was serving with the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office at the time of his death. The incident occurred while Deputy Johnson was attempting to serve a writ of ejectment, a legal order to remove someone from property.
