On July 26, 1903, Deputy Constable James Casey, aged 31, tragically lost his life in San Andreas, California. Casey, who had served with the Calaveras County Constable's Office for five years, was performing his duties when he encountered a suspect causing a public disturbance. The suspect, later identified as Julius Martinez, was arrested for public intoxication and creating a disturbance.
