David Brooks, a plainclothes policeman with the Los Angeles Police Department, was tragically killed on April 8, 1910. Brooks was on his way to investigate a robbery at a saloon when he encountered two suspects who attempted to hold him up. During the confrontation, one of the suspects shot and killed Brooks.
