David Brooks, a plainclothes policeman with the Los Angeles Police Department, was tragically killed on April 8, 1910. Brooks was on his way to investigate a robbery at a saloon when he encountered two suspects who attempted to hold him up. During the confrontation, one of the suspects shot and killed Brooks. His death was a significant loss to the community and the police force, as he was remembered for his dedication and bravery in the line of duty.
