Katsuji James Kanegawa, a 21-year-old man, tragically lost his life on December 6, 1942, at the Manzanar concentration camp in California. Born in Tacoma, Washington, Kanegawa was among the Japanese Americans forcibly relocated and interned during World War II. His death occurred during what is now known as the Manzanar Uprising, a significant and violent protest against the conditions and treatment of internees at the camp.
